‘.. a slender, luscious, doe-eyed, man-eater made of the finest Dresden china’ Sunday Times UK
One of Australia's most successful and well-loved Sopranos, Ali McGregor traverses the worlds of opera and popular culture like no other. Either as an award winning principal Soprano with Opera Australia; or a sultry, burlesque-inspired singer in the Famous Spiegeltent, she wins the hearts and minds of both critics and audiences.
Creating 'The Opera Burlesque' in 2004 saw the beginning of Ali's goal of introducing a new audience to the delights of opera. Luring their audience in with cheeky, operatic renditions of rock, cabaret and pop standards and mixing them with heartfelt and sincere renditions of favourite arias. They have delighted their sell-out audiences, making them realise why opera still has such a place in our hearts.
She is also winning a new audience through TV shows such as ABC's Spicks & Specks. Proving that an opera singer can love a little hip-hop as well as her Handel...

Lullabies for the Angkor Orphanage
Saturday 5th April in the Umbrella Revolution saw the return of the beautiful concert to raise money for the Angkor Orphanage in Cambodia with the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s best comedians singing their favourite lullabies and fables.
This year we had Adam Hills, Greg Fleet, Fiona O'Loughlin, Geraldine Quinn, Wes Snelling & Benn Bennett, Tom Basden & Emily Watson-Howes, Phil Nichol, Die Roten Punkte, Sammy J, Selina Jenkins & Casey Bennetto. It was, yet again an amazing afternoon and if you missed it or you were there and you want to relive the moments you can buy a copy of the live CD recorded ont he day. Help us raise lots of money for these beautiful children and enjoy one of the 'moments' of the festival.
All proceeds from the sale of this CD go directly to the Sunrise Angkor Orphanage in Cambodia.
See www.taylorandkhoo.com for more information on the charity.
