Zither come hither
The stunning soprano from last year's burlesque hit La Clique returns to demonstrate an even greater range of vocal and comedic skills. Added to this are the strings on her auto-harp, or zither as she prefers to call it.
Lullabies are the linking musical or lyrical theme between many of the songs, kicking off with a fusion of operatic purity and soulful improvisation on Summertime from Porgy and Bess.
She gets bluesy for the show's Tom Waits title track and jumps from the shrill, birdlike quality of German composer Hugo Wolf's The Forsaken Maiden to the crunch of Queens of the Stone Age.
Jazz meets Justin Timberlake in a mash-up of Cry Me A River, there's a cheeky version of Radiohead's Creep and orgasmic vocal gymnastics on AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long.
Special guest on opening night was comedian Adam Hills, narrating Banjo Patterson's Clancy of the Overflow while McGregor sang The Church's Under the Milky Way. There are only two more shows, tonight and tomorrow - don't miss out.
